Professor Spencer Li, Chairman of AASAR Guided postgraduate students to visit ARTM



On April 13, 2021, Professor Spencer Li, University of Macau led his P.h.D students and master's visit Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau. Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau Coloane nine-bay rehabilitation center located in Macau Coloane area nine-bay road, Notre Dame, was founded in 2001 on August 15. before the establishment, it was called the east branch of the drug rehabilitation association of Macau, formally affiliated with the Portuguese Association for Drug Rehabilitation. Since 2000, when the association officially set up a rehabilitation home for drug addicts in Macao, in order to provide more appropriate institutional-style drug addicts services in Macao, the association was separated from the Portuguese general association and reorganized as the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau (ARTM).

Eric (Cheung Lik Hang), the leader of the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau, gave a comprehensive and detailed introduction about this institution, telling the development of the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau and its latest treatment services, as well as the achievements. The model of "Treatment Community" was a highlight. More through personal counseling, treatment group, peer counseling, special lectures on education, vocational training, community activities, leisure, and interest in different forms such as culture, family support to help students to know themselves, to learn about personal problems, in order to achieve personal growth, to rebuild the relationship with the family and society and a new lease on life goals.

Finally, the leader of the association led everyone to visit the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau. The modern and humanized facilities and services left a deep impression on everyone. This activity enabled students to have a deeper understanding of drug rehabilitation work in Macau and stimulated their interest and exploration in drug abuse and rehabilitation services in Macau.
