On May 13 and 18, 2021, Professor Wang Zengzhen, Vice Director of Asian Association for Substance Abuse Research, Chairman of the Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction of AASAR, Chairman of Hubei Marriage and Family Research Association, and Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, led the team of Committee on Psychotherapy for Drug Addiction into Wuhan Wuzhong Hospital and used "five steps desensitization therapy" to help addiction patients conduct desensitization training. Associate dean of Wuhan Wuzhong Hospital, Wang Ran, and related staff joined this series of activities, and it has received a good cure effect.
Professor Wang Zengzhen's team went deep into the front line of drug rehabilitation. Through scientific investigation and experiments, it was found that the key factor leading to the difficulties in drug rehabilitation and the high relapse rate of drug addicts lies in the memory of drug abuse. How to erase these memories? Professor Wang conducted many years of research in view of this problem, finally developed effective "five steps desensitization therapy". The therapy is mainly based on the theory of consolidating his memory and the back - fading model. By arousing the memory of the addict, five steps including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing technology, mind-view therapy, hypnotherapy and neuro-language model were adopted to rewrite or erase the original memory of drug taking within the time window that the memory can be changed after arousing, so as to reduce the patient's craving for drugs.

"After the five stages of training, the images in my mind became more and more blurred, and even some fragments disappeared." "I became more and more unfamiliar with the original drug-taking scenes in my memory, and my desire for drugs was reduced, and I was full of confidence for the future." After the activity, six addicts wrote down their feelings.
Professor Wang Zengzhen said, "To save a patient with addiction is to save a family and to increase social stability. This is my original intention and also the motivation of our team. We hope that through the bridge of the special committee, we can establish effective communication and help more patients with addiction."
